Moroccan-Inspired Accessible Retreat

This bathroom remodel serves as a beautiful example of how highly specific cultural inspiration can merge seamlessly with functional, long-term accessibility. We were hired to design a space that wasn't just visually stunning, but also safe and comfortable for an elderly parent to use independently.

The Design Story
The design is deeply influenced by the client’s love for Moroccan culture and aesthetic. We brought this vision to life through a curated mix of textures and patterns, utilizing modern transitional elements to keep the look fresh and sophisticated. The space features:

Thoughtful Hard Finishes: A collaborative selection of materials, including uniquely patterned tile and high-contrast hardware in bronze and soft champagne gold to aid with visibility and grip.

Accessible Layout: We focused on a layout that prioritizes ease of movement, incorporating a shower instead of a tub and strategically placed support features that blend into the design rather than feeling clinical.

Cultural Details: From the specific tile layout to the lighting output, every choice was made to evoke the warmth and intricate beauty of Moroccan design.

This project was a true collaborative effort. By working closely with the client to finalize the layout and finishes before construction began, we provided a detailed roadmap for the contractor. This ensured that all custom features—from the specialized flooring patterns to the integrated safety elements—were installed with precision. The result is a cohesive, barrier-free sanctuary that honors the family's heritage while providing essential peace of mind.
